In the last few days, I imagine few Sheffield Wednesday fans haven’t stumbled over some bizarre transfer rumour mill reports suggesting that attacker Fernando Forestieri could now be a target for Sheffield rivals, United.
The Sun on Sunday (12/5 – p59) had a vague report linking the 29-year-old with a potential switch to Bramall Lane over the summer, and for many it was a typical redtop rumour, however, with our known Financial Fair Play issues, plenty have reported that he is available this summer but not for a fee less than £14million.
With Forestieri being hit with injuries, despite Owls fans knowing how good he is, a constant injury list has hampered the club on and off the pitch across the last few years and with renewed optimism under manager Steve Bruce, plenty feel it’s probably time for the player to move on – especially if we can bring in that kind of fee for him.
If £14M Forestieri needs a lift to The Lane then I’m available all summer. Great Deal for the Owls if this happens #swfc

Other clubs thinking of buying Forestieri will have the same worry as us, do we risk keeping him ? can he stay fit for a month ? when he is fit he can be either our match winner or goes unnoticed, basically he can look like he’s worth £10M one week and 10bob the next #SWFC

Whatever the fate of Forestieri and Westwood (and there will be others) we got to get behind and trust in Bruce… got to admit it will hurt if Fessi goes to blunts and likewise with Westy to dog botherers… Hutch to Hull to top it off #SWFC #wawaw

Forestieri is an amazing player and has done so much for the club but he struggles to defend and when he isn't on form we lose a player. For £14 million I'd happily sell him, no matter which club #swfc #sufc

Can't base ya team around a player who's not guarenteed to play every week. I'd sell for less then half that price

If forestieri signs for United I’m done. What rivalry anymore

I really wouldn’t be able to stomach seeing forestieri in a Utd shirt whatever price they pay. #swfc
